The Yurt in Songkol (2024) is inspired by my travel to Lake Songkol
in Krygyzstan. Some people in the meadows would live in these tents and
would travel from one spot to another by simply dismantling and reassembling
these yurts. Others would use it to host guest travellers and offer
delicious Kyrgyz food and sweets. The wild horses can just run wild in the vast
green spaces surrounding the lake.
The Vacation in Venezia (2023) is a spur-of-the-moment kind of trip in Italy that I did with the family - which I included in this painting. The colorful buildings in Venice are really impressive and so is the fact that within the Altstadt no cars are allowed, except boats, water taxis and ferries.
The Yak in Tibet (2023) is inspired by my travel in Tibet. On the way to the Everest Base Camp, one can see a lot of mountain goats and Yaks. But the Yak is a very daunting animal with its black color and horn. It is a source of food and livelihood for the people in the mountain. It is a source of milk and cheese, while its hair is used as blanket or fur.
